| SOM-12 NEURO: (FREE MOTION/MAGNETIC BRAKE SYSTEM) Field of Application: Neuro-Surgery, Plastic & Re-constructive Surgery, Hand Surgery, Urology (Vasectomy reversal). Operations on the peripheral Nervous system, Skull & Spinal surgery. The Som-12 can be configured as a “FACE-TO-FACE” (two surgeons sitting opposite each other) surgical Microscope system. As all “KAPS” Microscopes, the SOM-12 has been designed to offer a wide range of attachments and accessories to suit all the above mentioned Micro-Surgical disciplines. Optimum Integration: The “H” Floor stand with its integrated brake easily moved from one Operating Theater to the other. The long and steady arm gives the Microscope a large action radius, enabling the Surgeon to either sit or stand up. Feather-light Positioning: The new “FREE-Motion” Magnetic Clutch, in combination with the “BALANCING CONTROL SYSTEM” makes it very easy to manoeuvre and position the Microscope with the touch of a button. Day-Light Illumination: The integrated 180Watt Xenon Light Source (Xenonlux) offers optimum “Shadow-Free” illumination. The motorized adjustable diaphragm/shutter can be set to full field or spot illumination (10mm) giving the surgeon an optimum Field-of-View. Ergonomic & User friendly: The controls for Zoom & Focus are ergonomically located around the Microscope body. As an alternative there is also a Foot control available. The Focus & Zoom speed as well as X-Y speed can be adjusted on the Floor stand control panel. The motorized shutter control for the Xenon illumination is located in the arm of the floor stand. There is also a 150Watt halogen back-up light source that can be switched-in in a matter of seconds. Our new 0-210degree height-adjustable binocular tube in conjunction with the side-adjustable swivel mechanism offers a maximum of comfort and fatigue-free sitting or standing position for the Micro-surgeon especially during long operations. COOBSERVATION and Documentation: The symmetrical stereo beam splitter bridge (180degrees) offers “Face-to-Face” (two surgeons sitting opposite each other) Microsurgery. There are monocular and binocular COOBSERVATION attachments available. We can also offer an integrated Video camera system that makes it possible to coobserve as well as watch/document surgery on a Monitor. There are also sterilizable Caps and Drapes available.
